These are the steps that need to be taken by the referring veterinarian and our office to ensure everything needed is available to get the patient scheduled for an appointment:

What To Expect

路    Primary care veterinarian will make the recommendation for referral. Indication for referral exam is listed on the referral form (which can be found on our website) along with client and patient information. The primary care veterinarian will also need to send the pet鈥檚 medical records, pre-anesthetic bloodwork, vaccine history, and radiographs if performed.

路    Once the referral information is received by our office, the referral coordinator will review the information with our doctors.

路    The referral coordinator will then call the client and offer an exam day and time as indicated.

Exam Day:

路    Upon arrival you will enter the front door and check in with the receptionist. Your pet will be weighed, and you will wait to be called into an exam room. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to exam time in case additional paperwork is needed. If you are more than 15 minutes late, we may ask you to reschedule.

路    Once you are placed in an exam room, the referral technician will discuss your pet鈥檚 full history for referral.

路    The referral technician will then take the pet to the treatment area for the patient exam with the referral doctor.

路    After the exam the referral doctor will enter the exam room to discuss their recommendations in full detail, along with the recommended treatments or surgery.

路    If pre-anesthetic bloodwork was not performed by the primary care doctor, we will obtain a sample for evaluation with our lab.

路    If surgery has been recommended, we will create a treatment plan with a cost estimate for approval. A surgery date will then be scheduled.

Protocols

路    Payment is due at the time service is rendered.

路    Patients arriving more than 15 minutes late for their scheduled appointments will be rescheduled to the first available appointment opening.

路    Patient should arrive fasted.

路    A 24-hour notice is required to cancel referral appointments/surgeries. If an appointment is cancelled day of, the exam/surgery deposit will be required to reschedule.

路    A deposit is required on the day of surgery with the remaining balance due upon discharge.

路    All patients MUST be leashed or in a carrier upon arrival.

We do require current vaccination history including Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella, and Rabies. This is for the safety of the patient and our staff.

Pre-anesthetic bloodwork is also requested. This helps ensure the patient is in good health and a good candidate for anesthesia. If abnormalities are found, steps can be taken to help protect the patient.
